Hey Nancy, I owed you an explaination as to what I'm looking at and this entry looked like a good place. I'm looking into youth-oriented music fandoms where the musicians and fans are co-existing on the same platforms and how that shapes the directions of fandoms as well as shapes how fans and musicians communicate with one another. LiveJournal has been an area of focus because it has a very different setup from MySpace, although MySpace is something I think is important to look at also. Also AIM.

I like what you h ave to say about looking at it from the perspective of the performer and not just the fan. I think that's something missing in fandom studies.
